McNally Valuations Inc. prides itself on creating thorough valuation reports while still maintaining a non-intrusive relationship with our clients.  What follows is a typical layout of what you can expect for our valuation process.

The preliminary steps are quite basic: we ask a few questions to get an idea of the purpose for the report and what your needs are.  From these questions, we create an engagement letter that lays out the scope of the assignment, our expected fees and the timing for completion. 

Once you have reviewed the engagement letter and agreed to the terms, we will send a preliminary list of the information we need to complete the valuation.  The information is specific to each type of report and client but the list generally includes: financial statements; corporate tax returns; forecasts and budgets; asset listings; a description of the operations; etc.

In addition to the information request, we will often visit the business site and conduct a short, informal interview with management and key personnel.  Throughout the valuation process, we often have additional contact with management and/or external accountants for supporting information and clarification.  These contacts are generally conducted by telephone or email.

Armed with a thorough understanding of the company, we analyze the key elements that drive the value for the company and the industry.

We are frequently asked, “What’s it worth?” well before we are finished. Our only answer is, “We won’t know until our valuation is complete.” During the valuation process we become aware of unique attributes for each business. These attributes invariably have a bearing on our final determination of value.

Our valuation process is summarized in a written format.  The report is finished in draft form and typically sent in electronic version to the client for review.   We are happy to go through the report with our clients to make sure you understand the process and conclusions discussed in the report.   

 This review often facilitates a discussion for courses of action to enhance value or specific data to assist in a decision-making process.  After you have finished your review, we send you bound hardcopies of the final report.
